This square is located on one of the oldest and longest streets of the city - Poltava Shlyakh and territorially belongs to the Kholodnogorsk district of the city.
Historians cannot unambiguously answer the question of how long the square has existed, however it is known for sure that it received the popular name “Meshchaninov Square” in the post-war period. Only on December 25, 2007 the square was given the current name. At the same time, the grand opening of the monument to the famous doctor took place. The monument was erected in this place, since Meshchaninov was for a long time the chief physician of hospital 9 on Cold Mountain. In wartime, the hospital, thanks to the efforts of this man, opened a branch of the Red Cross
