Tourist and ethnographic complex “Cossack Khutir”

Description

  • An interesting site for the visitors of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve "Chyhyryn" is the ethnographic complex “Cossack Khutir”, near the village of Stetsivka.
  • In the 18-th century, at this place, there was a place to live in winter of the Cossack Zachosa, where he lived with his family and ran the place.

The purpose of construction of the complex is to recreate the whole environment of a small village with typical types of residential, commercial and public buildings. This territory with its meadows, hills, ponds, ravines is distinguished by its natural beauty.

The center of every settlement in Ukraine was the church – a spiritual center and a place of the warmest care. Life always burst on the square near the church. The heart of “Cossack Khutir” is a wooden St. Nicholas Church. An architectural monument of local significance was built in the late 18-th century in the village of Senkivka, Zolotonosha district, Cherkasy region, is an example of folk architecture.

It was moved to the territory of “Cossack Khutir” in 2002-2003 years. The building of the church is one-storeyed, wooden, cruciform. Its height is 21 m. The central log is adjoined from the south, north and west by rectangular logs, and from the east - faceted logs. The central frame is higher than the side ones, topped by a dome. Outside the logs are lined with a vertical board, the roofs, tent and dome are covered with copper. The church was restored in its original form without later constructions.
At the khutir there is a priest, a village starosta, a tavern, a windmill and household buildings. All of them were moved from the surrounding villages.
