The Summer Theater in the Dnieper was built in 1978 by the architect Oleg Petrov, whose work is distinguished by its futurism and originality. The theater has the form of a hyperbolic paraboloid and, according to the architect's intention, should symbolize a large white swan in the waters of the lake.
Despite its unusual appearance, the design of the theater is quite simple: two steel frames abut the reinforced concrete foundation and are supported by thin supports along the perimeter, and between them an extended cable-stayed. This design covers an overhanging platform and stage unit. All components together create a “floating on water” image with a lot of interesting angles.

The theater was built in 1978 in an artificial lake, which is located in the park named after Lazarus Globa. It is designed for 1100 seats and works in the warm season. The summer theater was erected and opened in honor of the holiday of the Builder's Day, so today some residents of the Dnieper call it the "Builder".
