One of the most favorite resting places for residents and guests of Vinnytsia is Kosmonavtiv Avenue. It brightens a picturesque district that has a tasty name – Vyshenka. A unique art-object – pedestrian fountain “Solar system” was created in 2017 just in this place.
There is a sculpture of Atlas in the center of the fountain composition. Atlas lifts the Sun over its head (a lace, latticework, almost airy installation). Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are located around it. When twilight comes, the illumination is switched on and it makes an incredible impression! Especially children love it, playing between the streams and hiding from the summer heat.
There are cobbled pavement roads around fountain “Solar system, with comfortable benches and pergolas of astonishing forms. Nearby you can find Nextbike – a public bike hire station. It provides you with a wonderful opportunity to make an unforgettable cycling ride along the longest and the most beautiful alley of Vinnytsia. Cozy cafes, modern restaurants (including restaurants of unique Podillia cuisine), a modern shopping mall with shops and the biggest cinema are located a short distance away.
The idea belongs to architect Natalia Katashchuk. Fine art restorer Oleksandr Bokov made this Solar system. Atlas was created by sculptor Volodymyr Ovrakh.
The amazing fountain is a part of a large-scale project on renovation and landscaping of the central walking alley connecting the parkland with the Vyshenske lake. Kostiantyn Mohylko square became a decorative element which rounds off Kosmonavtiv Avenue closer to Khmelnytske shose. A part of the architectural composition of the square is a unique monument with the plane (a monument to the air force rescuers of Vinnytsia), as well as the pedestrian fountain (16 streams of various heights up to three meters high).

The reconstruction works were lasting from 2015 till 2018, they were carried out in three stages and included: roadway expansion, renewal of pavements, paving the pedestrian zone, making a bicycle track, creation of children’s playground, different recreation zones, Wi-Fi provisioning and video surveillance, making new fences, renewal a network of street lighting equipped with charging devices, planting new maple trees instead of old unsafe ones, construction of an unusual illuminated arch, designer street furniture and other decorative installation.
