The chronological framework of the exhibits presented in the museum covers a huge period of time - from the Middle Paleolithic (40-15 thousand years ago) to the second half of the twentieth century. More than 4 thousand units of firearms and melee weapons collected in the muse, reflect almost all stages of the formation of human civilization.
The Museum of the History of Weapons contains beautiful examples of European weapons from the Middle Ages, jewelry made oriental blades, status and ritual weapons. A separate collection has been created reflecting the history of the Cossacks (the museum has a huge collection of Cossack clubs). Also presented here are cold, firearms, armor of the Cossacks.

Exhibits since ancient times up to the middle of the XX century are stored in the museum. Through their chronology it is possible even to track as technical skills, esthetic views and views of this or that time developed.

And it induced Vitaly Grigoryevich Shlayfer not to be satisfied with what has already been achieved and to expand a collection. Right at the beginning the quantity of exhibits contained about 2000. In 2008 reached 3000. And at the moment already exceeded 4000 units of weapon of many times and people of the world.
