The Balakliya regional museum of local lore is located in the oldest building of the city, an architectural monument of the early nineteenth century. The museum's funds number more than 12 thousand exhibits, representing various historical periods of the region. The museum houses staged costumes and personal belongings of the People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR Oksana Petrusenko.

There are three permanent exhibitions in the museum: "Ethnography of the native land", "Oksana Petrusenko - prominent Ukrainian singer", "Balakliyshchina in a flame of war" and constantly acting mini-exhibitions "My pain - Afghanistan", "History of one excavation" (archaeological Findings of the Saltovian culture of the Paleolithic era from the burial ground near the village of Nova Husarivka).

Every year, in the museum and beyond, museum workers open more than 20 exhibitions, which feature items from the museum's funds, works by local photomasters, artists, masters of decorative and applied arts. How to get there?

The Balakli Museum of Local Lore is located not far from the central part of Balaklia, only 95 km from the regional center. For tourists traveling on their own car, it is necessary to move in the southern direction along the route M03 / E40. With Kharkiv, Balaklia is connected by regular bus routes and electric trains.

Petrusenko, the natives of the Balaklija city, was opened in the district building of culture. Over time, on the basis of this collection was created a museum on a voluntary basis, which in 1984 was awarded the title "Narodny". And in 1988 the museum became a department of the Kharkiv Historical Museum. Since 2004, he has been working as an independent museum of local lore, with the only exposition dedicated to the life and work of the People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR Oksana Petrusenko.
