Mennonite colony of settlement Rosenthal
Among the monuments that have survived to our time from the Menonite colony ...
Among the monuments preserved to this day from the Mennonite colony Rosenthal is the Walman Castle, one of the most notable architectural monuments built in the Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau).
3-storey palace with many arched windows, doors and balconies. The most interesting feature of the building - each of its four sides looks absolutely original and does not look like the other. If you look at all the facades of a square building in detail, it is not possible at first glance to determine the main facade, because each side of the building in its architectural content is unique.
The front entrance to the building is located on the north side. This facade is accentuated by two angular projections. Between the risolites arranged floor floors of solid balconies. The first floor tier in the form of a triangular bay window with semicircular windows goes into the second floor balcony; the recessed plane of the mezzanine wall is decorated with a semi-circular opening of the balcony doors and a complex shape with a pediment on which the spire is mounted. The east facade of the building has an asymmetrical solution with a central, slightly protruding rounding in plan, a risalite. The first floor risalite tier is the basis of the second floor balcony. Crowned with mezzanine risolite with a triangular bay window. The front wall of the mezzanine has a silhouette of a complex spire with a spire top. Elastic arches and unevenly placed windows - triple, double, single break through the wall surface of the facade.
The southern facade is decorated with a triple window and a spire, with a trapezoidal silhouette.
The western facade is accentuated by a central triangular bay window, its spire serves as the backdrop of a semi-dome finish with a window - a hatch.
The roof in a complex building: the diagonal layout of the roofing metal sheets resembled a dragon's scales. The silhouette of the roof was complemented by stoves and chimneys. The author also carefully considered the interior layout of the premises: the two-story staircase had a convenient connection with the large light hall. All premises are solved in square proportions.
