It is located in the historical part of the city on the left bank of the Sluch River. The architectural complex consists of the Defense Tower of the 16th century. (security guard No. 1701/1) and Kostyola (ruins) of the 17th century. (security number 1701/2). The core of the complex is a tower-donjon, the height of which is approximately 35 m., square in plan, five-tiered, built of sandstone. The powerful walls of the tiers are adapted for defense, as they also have loopholes. The church is attached to the tower from the north, rectangular in plan, built of brick and stone. The main entrance to the complex is from the western side. Built in the Gothic style.

The exact date of construction of the existing complex is unknown. But the famous historian M. I. Teodorovych believed that the tower was built around 1570 by Prince Ostrozki, and V. G. Perogovsky also wrote that the tower was built at the same time as the castle of the Ostrozki princes.
The defensive tower was part of the city's fortifications.
The building was designed by the St. Petersburg architect Zhiber, developed in 1871,
was converted and used as a city cathedral.
The building suffered the most during the confrontation between the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Bolsheviks - in 1919, the domes of the building were knocked down.
