The previous name that the street bore before the beginning of the twentieth century was Deutsche Street, which belongs to the Nagorny district - one of the oldest districts of the city. The name itself tells about the history of the street: in 1805, the city authorities allocated this territory under the settlement of 23 families of foreign artisans. In the middle of the 19th century, the street began near Nikolayevskaya Square, where St. Nicholas Church was located (the church was demolished by atheistic Soviet authorities in 1930- ohm year), and ended at Kaplunovskaya Street, where in 1912 the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin was erected according to the design of Alexei Beketov, behind which the cemetery was located. In the 30s, this part of the city was razed to the ground, and in its place partly houses were located.
