How to get there?

The tower is located along Nielsen Street, 36. The nearest stop is the "Central Market", buses 12, 12A, 13, 13A, 15A, 23T, 107 and regular taxis 24T, 104, 105, 108, 114, 118 , 123, 124, 132, 136, 145, 146, 156, 218. A 5-minute walk is the stop "Dramteatr", where trolleybuses No. 1, 2, 4, 4a, 5, 10, 11, 15 run.

Since at the beginning of 20 st. in Mariupol there was no running water, water in the barrels from the source of drinking water to the houses of residents delivered water trucks. In April 1908, the city council of Mariupol approved the construction of a water supply network, compiled by an engineer and city architect Victor Alexandrovich Nielsen.


The construction of the water tower and city water pipeline began in December 1909. The author of the water tower project supplemented it with an observation fire tower, adding to it also the fire-prevention designation.


The water pipeline of the city of Mariupol began to operate on July 3, 1910, on this occasion special columns for recruiting water were built on city streets. Separate lines were carried out in the homes of wealthy citizens, and on the fourth level of the tower housed a tank of water for the city center.


In 1932, the tower lost its functional significance. As the city's fire department was located nearby, the tower served as a fire tower. After the Second World War, the building came to desolation.
