HISTORY

  • The building is known to the townspeople as a "house of horrors"
  • The complex of buildings of the old locomotive depot was erected around 1863
  • Ceased to function in the 2000s

These car-repair workshops belonged originally to Baron K.K. Von Ungern-Sternberg, the most original of the buildings was preserved in a semi-disintegrated state - this is a locomotive workshop, the project of which belongs to the architect ADTodorov. The house belongs to the "brick style" and is made in the Art Nouveau style. In Soviet times, the Odessa Crane Building Plant named after the January Uprising was in the buildings.

The plant ceased to function in the 2000s, so the building of the locomotive shop is not currently in operation. The building occupies about 500 square meters. The side facades comprise 16 window axes. Inside the house is divided into two huge workshops, the second tier of the risalite has round windows with original glazing.
