Yakov Margoshes was a well-known entrepreneur in Galicia.

The leather factory founded by Margoshes in 1888 in Stanislavov, known as the "Leather Factory", was one of the largest light industry enterprises in Galicia until the Second World War. The factory produced leather and materials for shoe soles. In the 1920s, an interesting story spread around the city that the order for leather boots for the Ukrainian army was placed at the "leather factory" in Ya. Margoshes by the Chief Ataman of the Ukrainian People's Republic, Simon Petliura himself. Unfortunately, for well-known reasons, the Active Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic did not have to take those military boots.
