The oldest botanical garden in Ukraine is a garden Karazin University. How to get there?

The plot is located on the street Klochkovskaya can be reached using the taxi 305e, stop "street botanical". Nearby is a stop of "Directions Rogatyn" where shuttle tram routes 7, 12, 20 and taxis 217e, 278e. Near the site, located in Sarzhin Yar metro station "Botanical Garden". The garden was founded along with the opening of the first higher educational institution in Eastern Ukraine - the Imperial University in Kharkov. Only in 1983, the garden was recognized as a nature reserve of national importance, as confirmed in 1992 by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Currently, the reserve contains more than 7 thousand plant species, among which are relics, exotics, and rare plants of local importance. Now the garden is located in two territories: on Klochkovskaya street there is a smaller plot, in Sarzhin Yar - a larger one. It is the object of research at the scientific institutes of Karazin University. At different times, such famous scientists as V.N. Chernyaev, M.S. Turchaninov, A.N. Beketov, V.M. Arnoldi, O.A. worked in the botanical garden. Korshikov, E.N. Lavrenko, L.A. Shkorbatov and others.
