His other side opens up with Rymarskaya - the not-unknown Berezil Theater, with which the name of avant-garde director Les Kurbas is inextricably linked.

HISTORY

  • He was first born into the world in the 18th century. The reason was the then governor, who built it for the arrival of Catherine II.
  • Second Life. In the courtyard of the XIX century. At the intersection of Theater Square and Pushkinskaya Street, they decided to build a new theater premises.
  • In 1841, at the notorious Sumska 9, they decided to build the first stone theater in the city, designed by the then famous architect Andrei Ton.
  • In 1883, the building was reconstructed.

In terms of architecture - it was a wooden hut. They say that the conditions were not the best: there was no heating and lighting devices replaced greasy plates. But this did not hinder to play performances in it, which, by the way, were known outside the city.

Venice” theater joined the modern avant-garde style, successfully presented Ukraine at international festivals in 17 European countries. In 2004, for the performances “Month of Love” and “Goldoni. Venice ”Andrei Zholdak Blvd was awarded the UNESCO Prize, and the troupe of the theater was among the ten best European companies.
