The local history museum in Ternopil is the oldest museum in the region. He is a little less than a hundred years old. In 1913, the collection of the “Folk School” society became the first exhibition of this museum, and this is how a new cultural institution was formed.

Officially, the museum opened on April 13, 1913 as the Museum of the Podolsk Association of the “Public School”. The founder was the Polish geographer Stanislav Srokovsky. Already at that time the museum consisted of 100 thousand exhibits.
