  • The palace building is the main building in the complex of the cavalry school, which consisted during the second half of the 19th century and occupied a significant area in the very center of the city

The bookmark of this magnificent architectural ensemble was made by Tsar Nicholas I. The author of the project was the well-known Dutch architect who came from Odessa - Wilhelm Vernon, and supervised the design and estimate works of Odessa technician-builder Viktor Shumilin. Andriy Dostoyevsky, a city architect, also took part in the design.

The Palace building is the main building of the complex, the former palace of the Emperor, in which he stopped at a detour of the southern lands of Russia. In front of the building was a large scale plot, which was lined with trees around the perimeter. They formed alleys where the public walked, and during the warm season, on this parade, they conducted training sessions.
The first floor of the palace was earmarked for servants; the second was inhabited by royal persons when they arrived in the city, usually in military maneuvers. And on the third was a military officer.
Over the period of its existence, the building has not undergone changes in the spatial design. The changes occurred in the planning system and the interior decoration elements were lost.

  • In 1845, a military town appeared in the plan of building Elisavetgrad and during the second half of the 20th century this complex of the cavalry school was gradually built.

1847 Tsar Nicholas I, who was present at the military maneuvers, personally completed the laying of this magnificent architectural ensemble. And already in 1848, construction began, which was formed around the main building of the complex - the Palace Building.

In this complex from 1859 to 1865 there was an officer cavalry school, which was intended for special training for cavalry officers. In 1866, it was annexed to the training cavalry squadron in the Novgorod province, and on the site of this military town a junker cavalry school was formed.
