House of S.G. Surukchi

The house was built in the second half of 1890th by the well-known Kharkiv architect V.V.Velichko. The first owner of mansion was a very honoured citizen of our city H.I.Vaschenko, later on the famous Ukrainian otolaryngologist S.G.Surukchi settled there.The often guest of this house was Fedir Shaliapin, as the famous patient at first, and then – as a close friend of the host. Concerts, recitals, with a participation of Shaliapin, were organized in the Surukchi’s house, Vertinskiy played his romances.
